The monthly meeting of the Grand Lake Rec Club was called to order by President, Brad Fisher at Moose, with approximately 35 members present. Vice President, Keith Seitz read the May minutes.  Treasurer, Kim Swick read the Treasurer’s report:
GLRC balance: $18,099.44
Mobley balance: $4,096.06

News/ Information:

  • Celina Moose #1473 had a celebration for Jim Monroe’s 70th birthday over the weekend.  GLRC was presented a check for $1,473.00 in Jim’s memory. 
  • Ohio’s Grand Lake Region Visitors Bureau reported that lodging is up 24% and $250 million comes from Auglaize Co, Mercer Co, El Dora, Boardwalk, etc. 
  • 25 illuminated buoys are out, one more to go.  Let us know when you see a light out so we can replace them.
  • New LIA maps are out, they added new channels
  • Log Dog: stripped down, new sides, sew seating, new top and new sonar on the back.  Bureau of Crime Investigators will be out to dial ours in and give training on June 26th.
  • Safety Island Dock: Another big tree took it out again.  We will get with the State to mark dead trees and drop them.
  • July 5th beach party is still on.  Let us know if you have any decorating ideas or anything else special we can do that day.  We will go out the night of July 4th and use caution tape to mark off our usual area.  Let us know if you can help.
  • West Bank: playground and fence are up.  Shelter house is coming in September
  • Dave Meyer on the Montezuma Pike Path: The township is getting ready to seal the cracks in the part.  There is 3.82 miles to seal, at $5-6K/mile.  We will reevaluate how much/if we will donate to the project.
  • Bicycle Poker Run: This Saturday, June 14th!
    •  Bayview will have a bloody mary bar, breakfast pizza, beer stand, tent and 2 Port-o-pots.
    • Registration from 10-12AM is covered
    • Parking: please contact Eric Doench if you can help
    • Dealers: please contact Mike Metz if you can help 3-5PM
    • Raffle tickets: tickets are $20/ea, for a total of 300 tickets to be sold. Prizes are on display at Lakeside Hideout. You can also buy tickets there.
    • Renee Welch and Andy Downing will be managing the booths again this year (raffle, 50/50, shirts, etc) let them know if you can help
    • Harrison Stop will be out again this year, worked by our Mercer/Auglaize Co Line members.  Stop to get a stamp on your ticket, also they have water and popsicles
    • Last year Sportsman’s Club ran out of food.  They are ready for us this year, and will not run out! Stop by SSS on your ride for some good eats 
    • Pre-registration is available at Bayview and Shingleshack
  • 2025 Election of Officers
    • President: Brad Fisher
    • Vice President: Keith Seitz
    • Treasurer: Mike Metz
    • Secretary: Amy Ruane
    • 1 Year Trustee: LJ Bertke
    • 2 Year Trustee: Mark (JR) Oyer (to take over for Mike Metz, while he transitions to Treasurer)

 

Club Drawing was for $200.00: #11 LJ and Lisa Bertke, paid AND present (they donated $100 back to the drawing!)
Next Club drawing is for $120.00
Next meeting: July 13th, Social Meeting,  2PM @ Boardwalk
 
   2025 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)
