September, 2021 Meeting Minutes
The Quarterly meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held September 12th at Celina Eagles. Approximately 15 members present. President Brad Fisher brought the meeting to order, and Vice President Keith Seitz read the August minutes. Tom Scheib gave the Treasurer’s report, current balance of $10,382.08.
- Park Manager, Dave Faler was present and gave updates:
- current lake level is 2.04″
- Fall Festival camping sold out
- Halloween Events: Oct 1st – 31st sold out
- camping has been sold out 18 weeks so far for the year
- The vandalism at East Bank has been repaired
- dredging continues
- Treatment Train going well
- recent toxin levels (2.96, 3.42, 3.15) still good! Under 8 is safe/good
- if anyone has a ‘spray license’ the State will donate the spray, please let us know
- GLRC’s boat, Log Dog, is getting some work this winter. There is need for new floor and more. Brad Fisher made the motion to allocate $2,500 to the boat fixup. Amy Ruane seconded the motion, it passed unanimously.
- The Trevor Mobley Memorial Fundraiser was a great success! A group of GRLC members attended, it was a very well organized, fun event with an impressive turnout. We will work hand in hand with the organizers of the fundraiser to draw up plans on how/where to devote the funds to light of the lake in memory of Trevor.
- We are going to get all the dates for next year’s events/meetings together, then sit down with each establishments to get their feedback and also so they can plan accordingly.
- As the year is coming to an end we would like to get out another time or two to clean up the beaches, signs, etc. Please let us know if you can help.
- Stump removal and detection: if you are out on the lake and discover a log, please use Google maps to ‘pin’ the log, then the state can come out and remove. This has been used a few times this year and worked perfectly.
- We are looking into buoys with lights, they are expensive, but may be very effective.
- The last band at the beach, Jeff and Kennedy, donated $300 to GLRC (thank you!). Next year’s band dates will be: July 3rd, July 30th and August 27th.
- Bicycle Poker Run will be June 11, 2022. If you have any input you would like to share, please email us.
- The Grand Lake Marathon is September 25th. GRLC will be hosting a water stand at the Fisher’s house again this year. Volunteers and needed!
- We are working on getting new GLRC shirts. We hope to partner with Albert’s and put online and on our website, stay tuned.
- We did not have a corn roast this year, still battling covid, etc. We are looking for ideas and hope to get something together for next year.
- We will bring the Oil Derrick and buoys in mid-October.
Next Quarterly meeting is 2PM, October, 10th at It’s It
- Club drawing was for $140. Steve and Michelle Brancalerone’s number was pulled, not paid, not present. Next drawing is for $150!
2021 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)
(Thank You if you have paid your dues)
