The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held December 11th at South Shore Sportsman Club. Approximately 38 members present. President, Brad Fisher brought the meeting to order. Vice President, Keith Seitz read November minutes. 

  • The Christmas Party was a good time. Great food and friends. Gift raffle was fun as usual too. Big thanks to Mike and Angie Metz for getting all the presents for the Club AND for donating all of them!
  • Brad gave a nice, detailed year in review Power Point presentation. It is too large to attach to email, I will try to figure out how to put on our website.
  • Eric Stachler spoke on behalf of the Trevor Mobley Foundation.  ~$13K was raised this past year at the annual benefit at Celina Moose and will be donated to the GLRC to be used in Trevor’s memory to light up the lake for safety. The remaining $828 from last year to be used on the Log Dog.
  • Dave Faler came and gave a report:

      Camp updates
    • We have only non electric campsites available for Memorial Day weekend
    • Mown the tree line back
    • Pushed the tree line back in the non electric and hauled dirt in there
    • Hauled dirt into the first loop and leveled to fix settlement issues after the full service was added
    • Excavated the playground fall zones and added new pea gravel to them
    • Day use areas
    • Removed the brush from around Handicap fishing pond
    • Removed all the old rusty sheet piling at the handicap fishing pond
    • Installed broken concrete where the sheet piling was
    • Have hauled some dirt into east side of the Handicap fishing pond
    • Removed 6 tandem loads of concrete off the East Embankment
    • Removed 3 1 ton dump trucks of steel out of the bank
    • Hauled in roughly 500 loads of dirt to reshape the East Embankment to make it easier to maintain
    • Dredge updates
    • 157,100 cubic yards for 2022
    • Pump for Brutus should be here in January
    • Hoedag will be pulled this winter to have the Spud legs replaced
    • Pump a Little will be pulled this winter to have the Steel discharge lines replaced as well as the steel intake lines replaced
    • Pull up the rip rap from the shop area to East Beach
    • Rebuilding the West Bank DMRA
    • Reclamation of the shop DMRA has begun
  • We will soon hold a Membership drive at Brad’s, to stuff and mail membership forms and magnets. Magnets were distributed at the December meeting as well.
  • February 18th is LIA’s Winter Icebreaker at Romers, with Shiverly and Friends performing
  • As always, we look forward to your ideas/project for the GLRC. Someone brought up an idea to has a Safety Day for kids/boaters, possibly at the Moose, the morning of the Blessing of the Boats. Please keep your ideas coming!
Next meeting is 2PM, January 8th at Rustic Haven
  • Club drawing was for $90. Brian Delaet’s name was pulled: paid, and present. Brian donated half back to the Club. Next Club drawing is for $20. 
   2022/2023 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)
