The Lake Improvement Association has named Brad Fisher the 2014 Guardian of the Lake for Grand Lake St. Marys. The annual award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated a passion, commitment and willingness to be involved to preserve and enhance the quality of life, in and around the lake, and the recreational value it provides.
Fisher is president of the Grand Lake Recreation Club, which recently restored the oil derrick “island,” complete with a replica derrick and light beacon that makes the lake a safer place to boat. He recruits a group of volunteers to haul debris from the water and shore each spring, and is also active in locating and marketing stumps for removal. In addition to his lake improvement activities, Fisher serves as a volunteer firefighter for St. Marys Township, where he is an active member of the ice rescue team.
“Brad truly represents what this award is about,” said LIA President Tim Lovett. “Grand Lake St Marys is a better place to live and enjoy because of his leadership and involvement in this community.”
