August 20, 2017 Minutes

The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at Celina Moose.  President, Brad Fisher, brought the meeting to order and read July minutes.  Tom Scheib read the Treasurer’s report; current balance of $5,196.  Approximately 19 members present.

The next meeting will be Sunday, September 10th, 2:00 at It’s It

  • We are looking for ways to improve the website, please email your ideas
  • Hog Roast is Saturday, August 19th at Bass Landing. We are looking for ways to improve this event and get the younger crowd involved.  It was discussed to combine the Hog Roast and the Corn Roast.  Also, to possibly move the location to somewhere more boat friendly.  Let us know your ideas to make these events more appealing.  Please come prepared with your ideas at the next meeting, so we can make a decision for next year’s events.
  • Dave Meyer, Tom & Tom did some work on the Log Dog recently and also replaced some broken safety lights on piers.
  • As discussed last meeting, please keep the ideas on how to grow and improve the Bicycle Poker Run.
  • An AED donation request has been made by the State Park. Brad will get with Dave Faler on the cost.
  • Dave Meyer had a fun idea of creating a new event of a GLRC Scavenger Hunt. We would like to look into this and either incorporate this into one of our existing events, or create a new one.
  • If you are ever in need of help when you are out on the lake, please be aware that you can call the Boater’s Alliance at 419-318-9139 and they will come out and help you.
  • Someone brought up the idea of the Rec Club creating and putting up signs on 219 to note the local creeks and other popular water areas. The State has standards for these signs, so we will have to purchase those accordingly, Dave Meyer volunteered to look into the cost of these.
  • Club drawing was for $40.00, Vickie Craft’s number was pulled; not paid, not present. Next drawing will be for $50.00.
  • Please email me with any ideas, questions or comments.

2017 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)
