April 13, 2014 Minutes

The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at Dockside Grill.  President, Brad Fisher brought the meeting to order.  Treasurer, Tom Scheib gave the Treasurer’s Report.  Approximately 25 members present.

 

The next meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 11th at Celina Moose.

 

• Vice President, Jason Plattner gave an overview on Brian Miller’s lake report, you can find the whole report on our new website: grandlakerecclub.com, which goes live Monday, April 14th!
  • crappie fishing is good
  • Dock fees are due May 1st
  • 25% off camping this year
  • new dredge named Hodog will go into the lake in June
  • water level is 8 inches above the notch
  • We received a $200.00 donation from Celina Eagles towards our oil derrick project, please be sure to thank them if you get the opportunity.
  • Vantilburg Farms donated a 10 foot oil derrick replica to go atop the new oil derrick.
  • Quality Ready Mix is giving us a great deal to pour the concrete necessary to secure the stone on the oil derrick; $80/yard, waiving all of the fees that would normally go into this type of project.
  • Tom Scheib made a motion to cap the oil derrick project at $4,500.00, the motion was seconded by Tom Gottschall and passed unanimously.
  • The Club’s golf outing will be June 28th at 1:00 at Northmoor.
  • The Club’s bicycle poker run is May 31st.  A big thank you to John Lee for creating a great flier for the event!
  • Member, Bob Swick, President of the Sportsman Club, brought up that they would like to participate in the Bicycle Poker Run, this inconclusively was discussed.
  • Member, Rick Nurrenbrock of ValPak donated an ad in ValPak to advertise our Bicycle Poker Run in May.  This ad goes out to 10,000 families.  The prototype of the ad was at this meeting and looks great.  Keep an eye out for our advertisement in an upcoming ValPak.  Thanks Rick!
  • We hope to participate in the Marathon in the area in September, details to come.
  • April 26th is Lake Cleanup. Please let us know by email or phone if you have an area in mind that needs attention.
  • Brian Miller from the State Park will be at our May meeting to answer questions.
  • We will be getting new shirts made this week, they will be available to purchase at the May meeting.
  • Club Drawing: we forgot to do the club drawing…next club drawing will be $20.00!

2014 Dues are now due ($20.00 a family for the year)
