2013 Year in Review

  • Our club continues to grow, with 100 current families!
  • finished 2012 strong with purchasing the AED for the state park in December.
  • March 3rd Bowling Event. This brought approximately 28 people and made the club $133.00.  Numbers are down for bowling due to the great snow that was enjoyed by many of our members that weekend.  It has been discussed possibly moving the bowling event so more can attend.
  • Bicycle Poker Run (need to set date & get sponsors) in 2012 = 120 riders, in 2013 = 250 riders, $1300.00 profit.
  • The GLRC sponsored $100 tag on a fish for the 2013″Get the Carp Outta Here” Tournament held May 17-19th.
  • Participated in Lake Clean Up Day (Rustic Channel)
  • Our ongoing ditch clean ups
  • Election of officers for 2013 was held, positions were unanimously agreed upon, they are as follows:
    • Brad Fisher, President
    • Jason Plattner, Vice President
    • Tom Scheib, Treasurer
    • Amy Ruane, Secretary
    • 1 year Trustee, Ron Fisher
    • 2 year Trustee, Tom Gottschall
    • 3 year Trustee, Deny Liette
  • Hog Roast on June 29th went well despite the rain.
  • The Corn Roast on August 24th was a good time. There were approximately 50 people present.
  • The Grand Lake Rec Club’s golf outing had a smaller turnout than usual this year, due to conflicting community events, but was still a success and a good time. $450
  • the GLRC donated 12 safety lights that have put up along the lake; Behm’s & Oil Derrick light $1765.00 spent
  • We helped at the LIA Barstool Open
  • Many of our members pulled out stumps and logs out of the lake several times this year.
  • The Club’s Gun Raffle was a great success! 581 total tickets were sold. $3000.00 profit
  • The GLRC donated $100 to a hospice related organization called CampBearable
  • The GLRC donated $100 to the Pink Ribbon Riders, an organization that benefits the Susan G Komen fight against breast cancer
  • traveling/bar meeting have been successful
  • New Moose/Eagles annual meeting in March to kickoff summer?
  • working with Brian Miller on tree project
  • Bowling Bash?
  • Suggestions for purchases for next year ($500 cap on non-lake related items?)
  • tailgate party?
  • next year’s treatment train?
  • t-shirt ideas?
  • remember when snowmobiling to be careful & respect people’s property
