The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at Sportsman’s Club. President, Brad Fisher, brought the meeting to order. Treasurer, Amanda Plattner, read the Treasurer’s report; current balance of ~$5,803. Approximately 13 members present.
The next meeting will be the Christmas Party, Sunday, December 13th, 2PM at Sportsman’s Club
- Our club boat, the Logg Dogg, was winterized by The Outdoorsman at no cost (only materials). We need to have Outdoorsman perform the winterizations in order to maintain the warranty on the motor. Then stored at Denny Liette’s for the winter. Thanks to both!
- Sonar unit is on order. This will be kept at the State Park and used to mark and remove stumps. It will, of course, also be used for emergency situations on the lake. Half of the cost of the sonar unit was very generously donated by a family that would like to remain anonymous. The other half was funded by GLRC.
- Brad Fisher, Bob Swick and Dave Meyer pulled buoys from the beach and oil derrick, and Stan Grimm allowed us to store these at Behm’s for the winter.
- The Oil Derrick received a grant from The Historical Society. Brad looking into how we may be able to use this to improve the Oil Derrick.
- Our Officers work closely with the LIA Officers and they are always willing to lend a hand. We just need to let them know if there is anything we need help/funding with.
- Renee is heading up the Membership drive again this year. Magnets are in and will be sent out as well. With Brian Morris’ help, we also setup an account on Paypal, if you would prefer to pay your fees electronically. Note that paying with Paypal involves a $1 transaction fee, so you will need to submit $21 for your annual membership fee. - We did a little brainstorming on goals/activities for next here, here are a few:
- cleanup the channel signs and repair/add reflective material
- put up more buoys, to help on complaints of speed
- more lights needed on the lake and to fix existing lights
- we would like to think up more safety ideas and run by the State – keep them coming
- Please always remember to stay safe out there. If you should ever need a ride home, here are some local taxi numbers. Put them in your phone now, you never know when you will need them:
- Trinity Cab: 419-860-3974
- DD Bus & Taxi: 567-644-3990
- Also, the LIA app is very useful for directions, navigation, etc
- Lastly, Vice President Jason (Fatty) Plattner and Treasurer, Amanda Plattner announced that they have sold their house and are moving to Florida (they moved on Nov 16th). We will miss them greatly! They promised to stay as involved as possible and to visit often. We will fill their positions in the annual elections in March. Nominations are taken in Jan/Feb, please email your nominations to Dave Meyer at dgmeyer67@gmail.com
