The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at Shockers.  President, Brad Fisher, brought the meeting to order and read the Treasurer’s report; current balance of $5,375.  Approximately 25 members present.

The next meeting will be Sunday, August 13th, 2:00 at Celina Moose

  • Dave Faler came and gave updates:
    • As of the previous Thursday, there has been 30.54 inches of rain so far this year. This is already 2 inches more than it rained all of last year!
    • Memorial Day weekend the campground was full. Occupancy is up 30-60%
    • Dredging at Prairie Creek is complete. If you know anyone that is able to take dredge material, please let us know – dredging is a very necessary part of lake maintenance and finding a home for the dredge material can be difficult.  94,426 cubic yards have been dredged so far this month, for a total of 154,887 cubic yards so far this year.  This puts us on pace to be significantly ahead for the 405,523 cubic yards dredged last year.
    • Member Ryan Beatty reporting a floating dredge line at Bayview. Dave was very concerned about this and said it would be fixed that day.  He also told us to please report if we ever see any dredge pipe detached and floating, or any other important issues we see on the lake.  You can report to Dave at 419-656-7069 or Brad Fisher 419-733-2731.  Non-emergency issues, please call during the day.
    • Dave thanked us for all our hard work. Also, he knew that we were looking for project ideas.  Since we did such a great job at the rebuilding of the Handicapped dock, he asked if we might be interested in redoing another handicapped dock.  Brad and Jason said they would go out and take a look at how we could help.
    • The Park Officers also stated that they are need of AED’s.
  • Please let us know if you have ideas for projects/donations the Rec Club can make.
  • Bicycle Poker Run went well, bringing in ~$3,800
    • I will get the results of the Poker Run to Brian to put on the website soon.
    • If you have ideas on how to improve/change the Bicycle Poker Run, please share them. Here are some suggestions club members had, that we will look into implementing next year:
      • Premade sandwiches, ‘grab & go food” at the bars
      • Premade GLRC shirts with a map of the lake/Bicycle Poker Run route on them

2017 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)

(Thank You if you have paid your dues)

Respectfully submitted by Amy Ruane, Secretary
