            February 12, 2017 Minutes

The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at Rustic Haven.  President, Brad Fisher, brought the meeting to order and read the Treasurer’s Report.  Secretary, Amy Ruane read the January minutes.  Approximately 20 members present.

The next meeting will be Sunday, March 12th, 2:00 at Duckfoot’s.

  • Dave Faler came to speak and answer questions, here are the highlights:
    • lake level is approximately 2″ below the notch
    • some 2016 improvements:
      • new shower house
      • LIA fixed dock at Windy Point
      • GLRC completely rebuilt Handicapped dock
    • The Log Dog (our GLRC boat) is SUCH a huge help to the lake. Every time a log needs removed from the lake, a dredge has to stop and go remove it.  So when we are able to step in and take care of this, it has a big impact.
    • 2017 to do:
      • West Bank restrooms
      • tree trimming and removal of trees on 364. It is a state law to remove the trees by class 1 dams; this is almost complete.
    • LIA meeting highlights:
      • lake draw down; it is ok if we have rain, if not….it is not
      • we are still in drought stage, however we cannot shut the gate. Shutting the gate totally would harm all the agriculture, animals and wildlife.
    • how can GLRC help?:
      • more lights on Windy Pointe
      • continue our maintenance we accomplish with Log Dog
    • Additionally, Dave answered several member concerns and questions – thank you Dave!
  • Next month we will dig more into the Bicycle Poker Run
    • Member, Mike Wagner, is donating a number of very nice items that we can raffle off at the Poker Run. Proceeds will go to GLRC, thank you Mike!!
      • several bikes
      • popcorn machine
      • ping pong table
      • wine chiller
    • Member, Pam Miller who works at Reynolds and Reynolds (Reynolds is also a new business member) can have our fliers, banners, posters and tickets made at no cost for our events. Thank you Pam!
    • Log Dog needs improvements and annual maintenance. We need to pull the carpet so it is more functional to bring logs in and other miscellaneous upkeep.
      • Jason Plattner made a motion to allot $500, Ryan Beatty 2nd the motion, it was unanimously passed.
    • Club Drawing was for $60.00, Dick and Donna Mosier’s name was drawn; not paid, not present. Next drawing it for $70.00.

2017 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)

(Thank You if you have paid your dues)

Respectfully submitted by Amy Ruane, Secretary
