This picture was taken second week of April 2014. (Below)Crews from Lake Loramie and Indian Lake Bring Their Equipment And Manpower To Join Forces With GLSM To Pull Up a Piece Of History.
This is a picture of last remaining Oil Derrick site on Grand lake St Marys taken on 4-17-14 after pulling up remaining rock. The Grand Lake Recreation Club with state parks will be loading dump trucks of rock onto state barges and floating them out to derrick. After rock hauling is complete the Rec Club will be floating concrete trucks out to derrick and locking rock together with concrete to increase durability. To safeguard local boaters and provide another navigational point we will be placing a derrick replica with flashing light on top. The final stage of this project will be the GLSM State Parks driving wood post on west side of derrick to hinder ice damage, prolong derrick stability, and create fishing habitat. The GLRC is looking for donations of rock, trucking, or funds to help get this task accomplished. Please contact Brad Fisher @ 937-361-9540 or email @ grandlakerec@gmail.com. For more information go to grandlakerecclub.com and like us on FB.
A Special thanks to Conag Inc, Shinn Brothers Inc, and Vantilburg Excavation for their donation of 280 ton of rock that was hauled to andersons for the Oil Derrick Reclamation Project.
