December 10, 2017 Minutes
The Christmas meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the Sportsman’s Club. President, Brad Fisher, brought the meeting to order. Tom Scheib read the Treasurer’s report and gave a summary of the past year; current balance of $4,750.49. Approximately 37 members present.
The next meeting will be Sunday, January 14th, 2:00 at Rustic Haven
- Elections were held and the results are:
- President: Brad Fisher
- Vice President: Jason Plattner
- Treasurer: Tom Scheib
- Secretary: Amy Ruane
- 1 year Trustee: Bob Swick
- 2 year Trustee: Dave Meyer
- 3 year Trustee: Mark (JR) Oyer
- Tom Gottschall, is doing better from his bad fall a couple months ago and made it to the meeting.
- 2017 was the best year for stump removal on record. Members went out four times, with nine people, for three hours each time. A total of 107 stumps and logs were removed, and one ladder.
- The GLRC’s boat, Log Dog, has a new top and is running great. This has proved to be an excellent investment for the Club. We have used the heck out of the boat, for all kinds of lake projects and it is holding up quite well. For example, Jason Plattner spent several hours on it with the cadaver dogs this past summer. The keys are in it, please feel free to use it for projects you don’t want to damage your own boat with. Any questions contact Brad or Fatty and they will get you setup.
- Dave Meyer connected with the proper contacts and the signs for the tributaries are in process.
- Update from Renee Welch on member status: 77 paid families in 2016 and we ended the 2017 year with 110 paid families and 13 businesses – up 30% from last year!
- Bob Swick is going to head up the new GLRC Scavenger Hunt event. Please contact Bob if you would like to help. Or email me and I will get your information to Bob.
- The Oil Derrick replica is down for the winter and being stored at Brad’s. We decided against the plaque, it would be nearly impossible for a passing boat to read and the seagull’s would most likely cover it with feces. We will have to continue thinking on another way to recognize the donors.
- Hyperlink to our website has been added to the bottom of the minutes.
- Christmas meeting was another great time. Big thanks to Renee Welch for purchasing gifts for raffle on behalf of the Club and for all those who brought something – good presents! Thanks to Bob & Kim Swick and team (and members) for all the delicious food!
- 2018 Event magnets are complete. 2018 will include quarterly meetings at locations were we have a private room, away from public distraction. Look for these in mail this winter.
- Club drawing was for $80.00, Pam Miller’s number was pulled; paid, AND present. Next drawing will be for $10.00
- Please email me with any ideas, questions or comments
2018 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)
(Thank You if you have paid your dues)
