The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at The Sportsman’s Club.  President, Brad Fisher, brought the meeting to order and Treasurer, Tom Scheib, read the Treasurer’s Report and gave the year in review; current balance $4,057.52.  Approximately 43 members present.

The next meeting will be Sunday, January 8th, 2:00 at Celina Eagles.

  • The Christmas party was a great time! Thank you to everyone that sent pictures for the slideshow and for all the delicious covered dishes.
  • Thank you Renee Welch for getting the gifts on behalf of the GLRC for the gift exchange, they were perfect (car washes, moonshine, wine, Yeti gear, wine, candles, seasoning, cooler, air hose kit, and many more)
  • Vice President, Jason Plattner thanked all the members and especially the ones that go above and beyond (many of you do, thank you SO much for this!).
    • Shirt orders: sorry for the delay in receiving these, we must have at least 20 shirts before an order can be placed.
  • We discussed having quarterly meetings at places with more private rooms, the schedule reflects this.
  • In the past, the club drawing has always gone out at the Christmas party (names drawn until someone present wins). Motion made by Pemberton Lincoln to have the drawing continue to carry throughout the year, not closing at the Christmas party. Dave Meyer seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
  • Reminder on ditch cleanup. This is done four times a year, and only takes less than an hour.  You meet at the Sportsman’s Club, pick up trash from Sportsmen’s’ Club to a little past Aquaview.  Then you get a complimentary drink from the club at the meeting following cleanup.
  • GLRC Bicycle Poker Run has been going on for four years now, bringing in ~$4-5,000 to benefit our Club’s cause. The goal is to have 500 bikes involved.  The plan is to get more advertising at businesses, also to get fliers out earlier this year.  Please let us know if you would like a poster or two to hang somewhere you think would get attention.
  • Lake Cleanup went well this past year. We hope to get more involved next year.  It is such a great cause and is actually a fun time!
  • We will be sponsoring a water station at Brad & Alisha Fisher’s home on 219 again this year. We have sponsored this in the past, it cost us nothing and we received numerous thanks.
  • On the same note, the State continues to thank us for the $2,000 in lights we put up and donated.
  • Club Drawing was for $40.00, Mark & Susie Kleinhenz’s name was drawn; paid, not present. Next drawing it for $50.00.

2017 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)

(Thank You if you have paid your dues)

Respectfully submitted by Amy Ruane, Secretary
