Monthly Meeting of the Grand Lake Rec club was called to order by President Brad Fisher at Boardwalk, with approximately 35 members present. Vice President Keith Seitz read March meeting minutes. Treasurer’s report read by Treasurer, Kim Swick

News/ Information

  • Safety Island Dock Project
    • Speckman’s donated the dock, Shinn Bros donated 2 floats, hardware was donated by a unanimous person, and time donated by a few GLRC men. We will get with the LIA this month to get the dock installed. This is LIA’s project that we are assisting with, they contributed all financial aspects of it.
  • Trevor Mobley Foundation is funding the lights at the new entrance at the Moose so people can safely enter and exit the Moose
    • Blue Beacon lights will be mounted on the reflective 5 gallon safety buckets and placed on each side of the entrance
    • We will place a few more reflective buckets on the piers with red lights for safety purposes also
  • Trevor Mobley Foundation’s annual fundraiser will be September 7th at Moose. The day starts off with putt putt golf in Coldwater, then 1-5 at Celina Moose. They are selling raffle tickets at $20/ea, grand prize is $3,000. There will be silent and live auctions, 50/50 and much more!
  • Elections will be held at our next quarterly meeting in June, they will be made with paper ballots. Eric Doench is running nominations this year. Please take the time to nominate someone for one or all positions. If you have not received the email, let us know. Nominations are anonymous 
  • The second round of online shirt ordering with Albert’s Sporting Goods is live now!  Please place your order before May 1st!  You can get to the link on our website, or copy and paste the following in your browser: https://glrc242.itemorder.com/shop/home/
  • Poker Run:
    • volunteers are needed. Registration is from 10-12, need dealers after the ride around 4/5PM and running our booth in general. Please let us know if you can help.
    • Rick Nurrenbrock of Val-Pack has offered again this year to put our ad in Val-Pack at cost, which is $290. All agreed to continue this advertising.
    • Dave Meyer is working on getting 10 banners made
  • Lake Cleanup is April 20th. Meet at Rustic at 7/7:30AM for a quick breakfast, then head out by 8AM to clean up the lake and beaches. We now have at least 3 boats going out. Call Brad Fisher if interested in going along and/or if you can bring your boat 419-733-2731. Cleanup is usually done by around 1-2PM.
  • Fishing Frenzy began April 15th. GLRC donated prizes for 4 fish, at $50/ea.
  • Dave Faler Report:
    • Lake level – approx +17″ above the notch. It was very windy, so this is not completely accurate
    • crappie fishing has been incredible
    • Dock fees due by May 1st 
    • Remember as you prepare your boat this year, to check your registration and safety equipment
    • The solar eclipse at the park went great. All the crowds that came completely picked up after themselves.
    • camping – all holidays and special events are full for 2024
