April 2023 Minutes

Apr 24, 2023

The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held April, 8th at Beachpoint. Approximately 32 members present. President, Brad Fisher brought the meeting to order, and read the March minutes. Treasurer, Kim Swick read the Treasurer’s report: current balance $15,123.97

  • Shirt order was placed, also we still have inventory of many sizes/styles on hand
  • Lake Cleanup is April 22nd this year, meet 8AM at Rustic
  • Oil Derrick: deciding when to get the rock out there, we have $3K invested in that project
  • Log Dog is out and now one dock down for the year. Thanks again to Greg Gast for letting us use this for free. New battery has been installed, new tow bar on order, grapple and magnet coming soon. Remember, this is your boat too, just let us know when you need to use
  • ADA Dock on West Bank: GLRC rebuilt this 6+ years ago and it needs work again. This time we are looking into building a floating dock, with new fishing structures. Shinn Bros were the lowest bidder and are going to donate $3K to the project. State is donating lighting to attract fish. This project was presented to the LIA and they voted unanimously to spend up to $30K on this project. Della St. Johns made the motion for GLRC to donate $5K towards this project, Eric Stachler 2nd, and the motion passed unanimously
  • There will be a press release on the lighted buoy project, which will also be a good time to remind the public to be aware of dredge lines
  • Lake report: +7.5 inches, holidays are full at campgrounds, dredge out since early April, restrooms are open and please pay your dock fee by May 1st
  • As always, we look forward to your ideas/project for the GLRC. We are still looking at a Safety Day for kids/boaters, possibly at the Moose, the morning of the Blessing of the Boats. Will possibly have a booth and pass out GLRC swag. Please keep your ideas coming!
Next meeting is 2PM, May 12th at Bayview (Ditch Cleanup at noon, Sportsman’s Club)
  • Club drawing was for $80. Luke & Kenzie Rolfes’ number was pulled: paid, not present. Next Club drawing is for $100.
2023 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)

(Thank You if you have paid your dues)

Respectfully submitted by Amy Ruane, Secretary.
