 April 9, 2017 Minutes

The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at Beachpoint.  President, Brad Fisher, brought the meeting to order and read the March minutes. Tom Scheib read the Treasurer’s report; current balance of $4,174.52  Approximately 27 members present.

The next meeting will be Sunday, May 14th, 2:00 at Sunnyside.

  • We currently have 96 paid families and 13 businesses
  • VP, Jason Plattner discussed the following:
    • the necessity and purpose of the tree trimming on 364 for the dam
    • we will need to stain the Handicapped dock we just rebuilt
    • touched on the need for lights on the lake
  • Dave Faler came to speak and answer questions, here are the highlights:
    • There are 3 dredges up and ready to run
    • If you know anyone that would allow dredge material on their property or land, please let us know, that is a difficult and necessary process for dredging
    • Ash trees coming down, Dave noted that we are the only group that is proactive and will come remove trees at any time, it is appreciated.
    • If you hit anything with your boat (trees, etc) please be sure to mark it, so it can be taken care of.
    • We brought up the need for a rough fish disposal (carp) at the lake, Dave will look into this.
    • June 2nd 3rd and 4th is the “Get the Carp Outta Here” tournament

Boat inspections are May 20th by state officials at the park.  You can have yours inspected anytime by calling the park office.

  • Additionally, Dave answered several member concerns and questions – thank you Dave!
  • Brad and friends worked on the GLRC boat this weekend to get it ready for this summer. A new prop is needed.  Pemberton Lincoln very generously has offered to pay for the new prop, thank you Pemberton!
  • Ron and Shirley Fisher donated a boat ladder for our boat, Log Dog, thank you Ron and Shirley!
  • It was a very productive meeting. Your feedback is always welcomed, please keep it coming!  It is very helpful if you have a subject that is important to you, if you could please email grandlakerec@gmail.com ahead of time, so we can do the research  necessary to provide a solid answer.
  • We all have the same goal in mind, and are striving for the same thing – Safety and to improve the lake! Keep up the good work!
  • Brad brought up the need for lights on the lake. Tom Gottschall made a motion to spend up to $2000, Rich Leis seconded the motion, it was unanimously passed.
  • Out biggest fund raiser is coming soon, the GLRC Bicycle Poker Run! We will have fliers next week that we will send out. Please print off the poster and place in as many places as you can!
  • Ryan Beatty brought up the idea of getting in Paint the Town magazine. He offered to look into getting the Rec Club’s Bicycle Poker Run in this – thanks Ryan!
  • Club Drawing was for $80.00, Brad Fisher’s name was drawn. Next drawing it for $10.00.

2017 Dues are now due ($20.00 per family for the year)
