April 14, 2013 Minutes

The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman’s Club.  President, Tom Gottschall brought the meeting to order.  Treasurer, Tom Scheib gave the Treasurer’s Report.  Vice President, Brad Fisher read the minutes from the meeting held February 10th; minutes were approved as read.  14 members present.

The next meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 5th at Bayview.

• Sick & Injured:
  • Lois Hawes; has had a heart problem, but is at home now and doing better.
  • Jack Craft; has been struggling with Pancreatic Cancer for six months now, is doing ok.
• Traveling meetings are still going well. We will be bringing the 50/50 drawing to the traveling meeting going forward.           
  • The March 10th meeting at Duckfoot brought about 20 people. Sue from Duckfoot gave each member a free drink token.
• Denny reported on the March 3rd Bowling Event. This brought approximately 28 people and made the club $100.00.  Numbers are down for bowling due to the great snow that was enjoyed by many of our members that weekend.  Denny discussed possibly moving the bowling event to November so more could attend.
• Tom Scheib informed the club of the discounts the State Park is giving this year:
  • 50% off campsites, Private Docks, State Docks and Shelter houses
  • 25% off Getaway Rentals
• For the “Get the Carp Outta Here” Tournament held May 17-19th the GRLC will be sponsoring a $100 tag on a fish. Jason Plattner moved on this motion, Deny seconded and it was unanimously passed.
• Election of officers was held at this meeting, positions were unanimously agreed upon, they are as follows:

  • Amy Ruane, Secretary
  • 1 year Trustee, Ron Fisher
  • 2 year Trustee, Tom Gottschall
  • 3 year Trustee, Deny Liette

• Upcoming events:
  • May 5th: 2:00 meeting at Bayview
  • June 1st: Fireman’s Golf Outing
  • June 8th: Bicycle Poker Run
  • June 9th: ditch cleanup at noon (start at Sportsman’s Club) and 2:00 meeting at Sunnyside
  • June 29th: Pig Roast
• 50/50 won by Ed Waldman $25.00 Club Drawing: Don& Jean Schirack (NP)
• next club drawing will be $40.00!
• Food was served by Jason Plattner & Amanda Poling/Deny Liette & Michelle
• The meeting was adjourned by a motion by Jason Plattner and 2nd by Deny Liette.
